Abstract
A total of 30male albino rats with about 150^(gm) weight were used. They, were divided into 50% alcohol, group, 50% alcohol plus 1% ginseng: extract group; and control group.
Experimental rats were, given with an abdominal- injection of 4^(gm) per kg body weight with 50% alcohol. and an ors.: administration of 2^(gm) per kg body weight with 1% ginseng extract.
Tiiis experiment was studied to evaluate the effect of ginseng extract on the blood pictures of albino rats injected. with alcohol.
The following results were obtained :
1. In red blood cells, both alcohol group and ginseng group were decreased and it showed high significant differences. (p<0.01)
2. In hemoglobin content, both alcohol group and ginseng group were decreased. Alcohol group showed high significant differences (p<0.01) and ginseng group showed significant differences. (p.< O.05),
3. In hematocrit value, alcohol group, was decreased and it showed significant differences (p<0.05) but ginseng group showed no significance.
4. In mean corpuscular volume and mean corpuscular henoglobin, alcohol group was increased and it Aowed`6ignificant differences (p<0.05) but ginseng group showed no significance.
5. The corpuscular hemoglobin concentration showed no significance.
6. In leukocyte count, alcohol group was decreased and it showed high significant difference(p< 0.01) but ginseng group showed no significance.
From the above abservation, it was suggested that ginseng extract has protective effect on the blood pictures of rats injected with alcohol.
